If you are experiencing symptoms or exposure to sickness of any kind, please stay home and contact your artist immediately. Do not show up to an appointment if you are not feeling well.

KN95 masks or equivalent are required to be tattooed and are provided upon request. Please note other people will be unmasked in the studio since this is a personal artist policy. A HEPA certified air filter runs in my station at all times.

Get plenty of food, water, and sleep the week leading up to your appointment. Moisturizing consistently is also helpful. There is no need to shave prior to your appointment.

Essential Items

• A valid, government issued photo ID (driver's license or passport).
• A payment method (cash preferred, PayPal accepted).

Recommended Items

• Water/juice and snacks.
• Sunglasses if you are sensitive to light.
• Electronics and chargers.
• Headphones, books, a switch, or other comfort items to pass time. Do not bring activities that cause disruptive movement.
• Multiple layers of clothing (adrenaline causes body temperature fluctuations)

Clothing

Wear clean, dark, comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting stained. Choose clothes that allow easy access to the area being tattooed. Consult with your artist if you are unsure.

Cash preferred, PayPal accepted with a 3% processing fee.

An initial retainer of $150 for customs and $100 for flash is required up-front via PayPal. Retainers are not refundable and apply toward drawing fees, the consultation, and admin time that all happens before the appointment.

Industry standard is ~20%, but it is not necessary for service.

The studio is a welcoming, clean, and professional workspace to collaborate. Mesa Tattoo on Upshur St. is nestled in a 120 year old historic building in the heart of Slabtown, PDX. A few blocks away visitors can find charming cafes, restaurants, entertainment, food, and all the oddities that Portland has to offer.

The studio is in an ADA compliant building. If you need any accommodations to make your appointment fully accessible, please reach out.

Contact your artist immediately if you are running late.

If more than 15 minutes late without contacting your artist, the client may be charged a rescheduling fee even if service is provided that day.

If a client is 30 minutes late without contacting the artist, the client will be blacklisted.

Reschedules and deposits are handled on a case by case basis at the discretion of the artist.

Touch ups are offered for one year at no additional cost provided there are no signs of irresponsible care. After one year, touch ups are available at usual rates.

You must inform your artist up-front if you want to use numbing cream. I highly discourage its use and avoid it as much as possible. When I do make exceptions, it is usually for people who already have a history using numbing cream with good results and know what brands work for them. You will need to purchase it yourself.

If you show up to your appointment with numbing cream applied and have not consulted me, you will be sent home and required to place a new deposit. This is a matter of health and safety as there are serious risks with numbing agents.

Please consult with me if you are nervous! There are many alternatives approaches to pain management and numbing cream isn't always the most effective one.

All inks in my practice are certified vegan.

DISCLAIMER: Allergic reactions are always possible and may occur from exposure. Consult with your doctor if you have concerns, and consider doing a color test prior to a full-color appointment.

According to OAR 331-915-0065, tattooing is prohibited:

"(a) On a person who shows signs of being inebriated or appears to be incapacitated by the use of alcohol or drugs;
(b) On a person with sunburn or other skin diseases or disorders such as open lesions, rashes, wounds, puncture marks in areas of treatment;
(c) On a person younger than 18 years of age, regardless of parental or legal guardian consent."

MEDICATIONS: If you are on Accutane or a similar Isotretinoin, you cannot be tattooed for 9 months to one year after cessation. Consult with your doctor if you're on this type of medication, or any other medication that you are unsure about. Avoid blood thinning medications and alcohol (acetaminophen is fine).

WARNING: Tattoos are known to cause conditions like psoriasis and auto-immune responses to flare up. There is always a chance that tattoos will cause an allergic reaction.

I do not offer tattoo tickets or draw designs for other artists to tattoo. My work may not be copied or reproduced. Please reach out with your request if you would like me to visit your city!
